Real Madrid overcame Joventut in the final to clinch their 13th Copa de España crown. This match was played in Vitoria and Luyk (18 points) and Brabender (16) spearheaded Madrid to a 72-63 victory. The Whites lifted the trophy for the second year in succession against Joventut and continued a run of cup dominance which saw them win six editions in a row between 1970 and 1975.

On their way to the trophy, Pedro Ferrándiz's boys beat Barcelona 138-122 on aggregate in the quarter-finals, while in the next round they prevailed over Manresa (149-186) to secure their place in the final. Along with the cup success, Real Madrid capped off the season by winning the league and ending with a double.
